The forgotten tecnique of preventative maintenance

Why do people only act when a problem comes up? The old saying "don't fix it if it ain't broke" does not apply to your health and well being. Take a look at this website "www.symmetrydirect.com/tsage" and read about the genesis, I'm pretty sure you wont be disappointed:)

Proactive execution of standard treatment plans to ease burden on patients

Why not encourage (ie. fund) care providers to be proactive in how they treat people. Here is my example (based on recent experience) - recently visited a walk-in clinic with a sore throat (I suspected strep throat). They took a swab, I waiting 6 days then needed to return for another appointment to find out my results and get another prescription.

Where is nutrition in the health innovation discussions?

One of my ancestors, Dr. Francis Pottenger, studied ancestral diets because he suspected that much of the health problems modern humans were experiencing resulted from improper nutrition.

On the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation Web site (http://www.ppnf.org), you will find the following statement:

One Med Form

We're proposing a radical if low-tech idea ... let's agree on a standard patient medical history form (on paper or any digital format) and ask every healthcare provider to accept it.

"Handwashing Alert Critical": New Pandemic Language

Credit to Daniel Heninger, writing in the Wall Street Journal. He suggests qualifier words, like "geographic pandemic" and "mortaility pandemic". I suggest public health recasts language that educates as well as informs. Example: "Handwashing Alert Critical in x, y, z region" (for airborne transmission) or "Facemask Alert Critical in x, y, z region" or "Home Quarantine Alert Critical".

Fractal music for healthy hearts

Music is an ancestral tradition.

Music is a 'cheap health option' with minimal side-effects. This option has upside with little downside.

Explore the link between healthy multifractal heart rate rhythms and neuronal signaling patterns and music. In short, can multifractal music act to 'pace' diseased hearts into multifractal, healthy rhythms.

Make non-Healthcare Providers part of the healthcare team

Ensure cleaning, administrative, etc staff are encouraged to tell RN/MD/OT/PT if they notice something is off or wrong with a patient, procedure set up, or they recognize something that is significant.

Healthcare proposals should include and enable traditional forms of medicine

Why would anyone limit the resources available to people in need, while at the same time refusing to recognize and compensate valid legitimate traditional forms of medicine and those who provide service?

Use What Works for Web 2.0 for Health 2.0: People Freely Innovating Without Gov Burdens

The government made a rule of not interfering with the fledgling internet/web with sales taxes, not setting a bunch of rules that would be outdated by the time they hit the books, nor trying to pick winners and losers with laws favorable to some & penalizing others.

Get rid of voicemail in doctors' clinics

Doctors' offices -- like many independent contractors' offices -- leave harried voicemail messages, often without advising patients where to go if they have an emergency or need after-hours care. Many increasingly do not allow messages -- since the administrative staff can't handle the call volume.

Novel Patient Community

My idea was to create a free social network and blogging platform for patients with chronic illness to find friendship, support, and tell their story of living with chronic illness. My hope is to bring the chronic illness community together through this simple website as well as raise awareness outside the community about what it is like to live with chronic illness.

What healthcare needs is an ethical yardstick that empowers patients!!

If you are really sick, and particularly if you need surgery, how do you know how to find the best surgeon you can?

There are doctor rating sites, but ratings can be inaccurate or manipulated. Word of mouth may not be enough. "Board certified" is not enough.

What about knowing in advance how well your doctor is going to communicate with you?
