Cannabidiol (CBD) does not contain what makes high. That’s why it’s completely legal. CBD and the intoxicating THC are active ingredients of the cannabis plant, which has been used for thousands of years as a natural remedy or intoxicant. Since many cannabis products are illegal in Europe, one can resort to various cannabidiol preparations for pain, inflammation, anxiety and sleep disorders.
Cannabidiol does not make you high
Cannabidiol may only be sold freely as a dietary supplement. Since the beginning of 2017, there has been a cannabinoid medication for pain in multiple sclerosis. For complaints of chemotherapy or to increase appetite, medications can be imported by prescription.
Medicines like CBD CAPSULES are also permitted which may contain up to 1% of the intoxicant THC in addition to cannabidiol. This combination is sometimes the only one that helps to fight pain. Cannabis is considered a remedy for many health problems:
- anxiety disorders
- sleep problems
- Appetite disorders / nausea
The effectiveness against cancer is still under investigation. First of all, as far as the cure of cancer and the effect against tumor growth are concerned. Preparations with CBD and THC are prescribed for very severe pain. Even self-cultivation is legal under these circumstances, because the finished medicines are very expensive.
Why does cannabidiol even work?
Not everyone who is interested in cannabis as a medicinal plant, would also like to experience the intoxication. THC is psychoactive, which means it changes one’s perception and increases one’s mind . That is why it is considered an intoxicant. Cannabidiol (CBD) and THC act on the endocannabinoid nervous system. We can take cannabinoid by cannabis, but it is also an endogenous substance that activates a corresponding receptor. It regulates, for example, appetite, inflammation, pain, sleep, immune function or mood.
It can be imagined as follows: At various points in our body, this endocannabinoid nervous system has placed two types of outlets, the CB1 and CB2 receptors, for example, in the spinal cord, at nerve endings or at the emotional center in the brain. Cannabinoids are the counterparts that fit into the cans and then trigger certain reactions.
THC acts like a plug that activates the receptors and allows current to flow. CBD is more like the socket fuse that prevents the baby from putting his finger in it.
For example, using cannabidiol on the amygdala in the brain, also known as an anxiety center , can make us more relaxed or help against nightmares and anxiety. So you can experience relaxation and avoid sleep problems , without any rush.
Hashish contains both cannabidiol and THC. CBD oil or other legal supplements contain less than 1% THC so it does not have a psychoactive effect.
